𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Last week was a reminder that alpha isn't free. The market experienced a broad pullback, driven by macro uncertainty and a rotation out of high-growth tech.
My portfolio, built on high-conviction "Architects," felt this volatility acutely, closing the week down -𝟓.𝟐𝟗%.
Here is the breakdown against our benchmarks: 🔹 𝐌𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨: -5.29% 🔹 𝐍𝐚𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐪 𝟏𝟎𝟎 ($𝐍𝐒𝐃𝐐𝟏𝟎𝟎): -3.26% 🔹 𝐒&𝐏 𝟓𝟎𝟎 ($𝐒𝐏𝐗𝟓𝟎𝟎): -2.06%
While red numbers are never comfortable, they are instructive. Here are three strategic takeaways:
𝟭. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞-𝐄𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 Our strategy is concentrated in the infrastructure of the future ($NVDA, $MSFT). When the market goes "risk-off," these names often correct faster than the broad index. This is the mathematical trade-off we accept for the significant outperformance we capture during up-cycles.
𝟐. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 A -5% week does not invalidate a structural shift in the economy. The demand for AI infrastructure, cloud computing, and cybersecurity hasn't changed. In fact, the fundamentals of our companies are stronger than ever.
𝟑. 𝐙𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐎𝐮𝐭: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 Despite this pullback, our Year-to-Date performance stands at +𝟐𝟓.𝟕𝟗%, still significantly ahead of the $NSDQ100 (+15.41%) and $SPX500 500 (+12.32%). This gap (+1000 bps alpha) is the cushion we built exactly for weeks like this.
Conclusion: We do not trade the noise. We use these pullbacks to test our conviction and, where appropriate, to accumulate quality assets at better prices.
Stay disciplined.
