The market ended the week roughly flat, concluding a volatile period driven by macroeconomic anxiety rather than company fundamentals.
As discussed in my summary on Friday, the "good news" of the government reopening ironically triggered a risk-off rotation in Tech $NSDQ100, as investors braced for a "flood" of delayed economic data.
My portfolio, being concentrated in these "Architects," moved in line with this rotation, closing the week at -𝟬.𝟱𝟯%.
Here is the performance breakdown:
🔹 𝗠𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗼: -0.53%
🔹 𝗡𝗦𝗗𝗤𝟭𝟬𝟬 ($𝗡𝗦𝗗𝗤𝟭𝟬𝟬): -0.11%
🔹 𝗦𝗣𝗫𝟱𝟬𝟬 ($𝗦𝗣𝗫𝟱𝟬𝟬): +0.15%
As always, here are the three key insights from this performance:
𝟭. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗢𝗳𝗳
This week's price action was entirely driven by short-term macro fears (interest rates, inflation data uncertainty). It was not driven by a failure in the earnings or strategy of our core holdings (like $MSFT, $GOOGL, or $SNPS). The fundamentals of the "Architects" thesis remain unchanged and were, in fact, validated just last week.
𝟮. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝘃𝘀. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀
This week perfectly illustrates the trade-off of our strategy. The $SPX500 was flat because it holds defensive sectors (like staples and utilities) that we deliberately avoid. Our portfolio is intentionally concentrated in high-growth "Architects," so we are expected to be more volatile. This volatility is the "price of admission" for our strategy.
𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸
The true measure of a strategy is not in the short-term "noise" but in the long-term "signal." While the week was slightly negative, the long-term signal remains exceptionally strong.
🔸 𝗬𝗧𝗗: +32.81% (vs +19.29% for $NSDQ100)
🔸 𝟭-𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿: +45.07% (vs +25.01% for $NSDQ100)
Our significant outperformance over our core benchmark (over +1350 bps YTD) demonstrates why we accept short-term volatility.
Thank you to the new followers who joined us this week, understanding that this is a long-term journey.
